The Butler County Department of Development’s Planning Division oversees sound land use planning strategies for townships, villages, and the county as a whole. We ensure that long-range plans promote a balance of preserving the natural environment and providing appropriate development areas for residential and business uses.
The Planning Division coordinates the statutory duties of the Butler County Planning Commission and the Butler County Rural Zoning Commission. Included in this responsibility are the timely creation and distribution of sound decision-making reports and other tools, as well as training and guidance for all citizens who serve on our boards.
Day-to-day, the Planning Division handles a variety of tasks, including Subdivision Regulation, Land Use Planning, Rural Zoning Administration, Floodplain Management, and Airport Zoning. Special projects of the Division include demographic analysis, GIS mapping, capital improvements planning, and grant administration.
